Catherine Schlaeppi

     Catherine Schlaeppi was born in Maryland, grew up in Delaware and now currently resides at her farm in High Point, North Carolina. With a long family history in the competitive equine industry she has ridden her whole life. She competed heavily in the Adult Amateur division. Cathy attended Mary Baldwin College where she achieved her degree in educational psychology as well as participated on the Intercollegiate Equestrian Team. The summer she graduated college she worked at Oak Manner Farms in Weyers Cave, Virginia where she discovered her passion for teaching. This lead her to open up her own barn for business in High Point, NC in 1982. She has coached many Children's Hunters, Adult Amateurs and Ponies to local, regional and national awards as well as run many successful Adult and Children's summer horsemanship riding camps.

    She been a member of The Sedgefield Hunt since 1979. She is an active member of the NCHJA board, the affiliate committee for USHJA, a North Carolina C-Rated Judge and Steward, has participated in the American Riding Instructors Program, had clinics with George Morriss and many others, and is currently on the USHJA Adult Hunter Task Force. Cathy became the first and only coach of the newly formed High Point University Equestrian Team in 2009.
